The new head offices were a joint venture between government and JSE-listed Wilson Bayly Holmes-Ovcon (WBHO). Of the R1.4 billion construction cost, R600 million was supplied by government, with over R800 million coming from WBHO. The building was designed by GLH Architects and achieved a 4 Star - Green Star SA Office rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa. It is expected to house about 3,000 Stats SA employees who currently occupy a number of buildings in Pretoria. The land the new building occupies is a 60,000 square meter piece of government-owned property between Koch, 6th Street and Pretoria Station in Salvokop.
