Gabby Olivier and the management team at CKR Consulting Engineers have a dream for the young learners of our country. This dream is all about education and guidance to help create a bright future for them and to motivate them to work hard towards it. CKR wants to get involved through sharing their expertise and wisdom with the young people who presently may face a bleak future. The Reading Relay was conceptualised in discussions with LAPA Publishers.

2025:
Johannesburg: This Mandela Day, our Johannesburg team partnered with the Jess Foord Foundation to bring comfort and support to rape survivors and their children. The team decorated and packed care bags — each one a symbol of resilience and a new beginning. With creative artwork & thoughtfully selected essentials and soft toys, every bag was prepared to provide both emotional and practical support.
Pretoria: Our Pretoria team kicked off Mandela Day with heart and hands at Moeggetjank Dog Shelter, located just outside Centurion. More than just a haven for dogs, the shelter also supports Moeggesukkel — a safe space for the unemployed and homeless. Guided by their motto, HOPE: Helping Others Prosper to Excel, the shelter is actively working to uplift both animals and people through structural improvements and community engagement.
The team spent time engaging with the dogs, sponsored food to sustain the shelter for the next 2 months and proudly became the 1st to place handprint messages on the wall — with the goal of reaching 67 prints to honour Mandela Day’s 67 minutes of giving.
Monthly financial contributions to Girls & Boys Town South Africa. Established in 1958 these two schools set out to heal heartbroken children, along with their families & communities, who have been harmed by the trauma of physical & emotional abuse.
Annual monetary donations to the Abraham Kriel Orphanage & Africa Tikkum which has been transforming lives, empowering young people, and uplifting communities through its Cradle-to-Career programme.
CKR has embarked on a housing development project with a specific focus on a disadvantaged community with limited services.
CKR contributes on a monthly basis to Greendale House Palliative and Hospice Care which provides palliative home-based and in-patient care, and other support services for people with life-threatening illnesses, and their families.
