CKR Consulting Engineers, being a member of the Green Building Council of South Africa, U.S. Green Building Council and also the Emirates Green Building Council, always strives to adopt emerging concepts based on accepted sustainable energy and environmental design principles and strike a balance with established practices.

Green Building is a holistic project approach and such developments are Designed, Constructed and Operated to create healthy and energy and water efficient high performance buildings.

By designing, planning and implementing in a sustainable way, the environmental impact is significantly reduced, with countless direct and indirect benefits to the owner, occupants and community.
Integrated design is a multi-disciplinary strategy that effectively integrates all aspects of site development, building design, construction, operation and maintenance to minimise the building resource consumption and environmental impact while improving comfort, health and productivity.

For example, building orientation (maximise North-South exposure), interior paint colour (increase L.R.V. Light Reflectance Value), daylight, high performance windows, building envelope insulation, water efficient plumbing fixtures will result in lower energy and water cost.

At CKR, we have GBCSA Accredited Professionals to guide our clients who aspire for Green Building certification to achieve their goals.

CKR was involved with the Woolworths Distribution Centre in Centurion which was awarded the SAPOA Award for Sustainable Design in 2007.
